Complementary Health Schemes in the European Union

Markus Schneider (ed.)

In Europe, complementary health schemes are playing a growing role in health care protection.

Complementary health schemes go beyond the public basic schemes of health care protection. They serve as substitutes for state provision or offer the possibility to complement public protection. They are an essential instrument to adjust medical care to individual needs in the European context.

For the first time, a comprehensive presentation of the various aspects of complementary health schemes within the European Union is provided.

Health policy experts from almost all Member States illustrate the chances of complementary health schemes in these countries.

For all dealing with health policy and consultation, for health insurance, hospitals, universities, research institutes, public health practitioners and health institutions.

The book was supported by the European Commission.
